Understanding the importance of working on the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, in cooperation with the general contractor of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project, Atomstroyexport, hosted an event to celebrate World Water Day today, Friday, March 22, 2024.

The event is aimed to launch a campaign to clean one of the areas of the Mediterranean coast at the construction site in El Dabaa, Matrouh Governorate, from plastic waste, in order to preserve the coastal and marine environment from contamination factors. Some workers employed in the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project participated in this campaign from both the Egyptian and Russian sides, as well as subsidiary companies engaged in the project. The campaign aims to clean the coastal area at the construction site from plastic and other waste.

It is worth noting that the World Water Day is celebrated annually on 22 March. The UN announced that the theme of Water Day for 2024 is “Water for Peace,” in order to highlight the importance of freshwater and inspire to spur action to tackle the global water crisis. This consolidates support for achieving the sixth goal of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which is clean water and sanitation for all, that is completely consistent with Egypt Vision 2030.
